VACCINATIONS (Essential)
Yearly vaccinations are required for both cats and dogs. Initial vaccinations need to be given a minimum of two weeks prior to boarding. You will be asked to bring a recent certificate of vaccination. For dogs, the vaccination required is C5. Please note that a C3 vaccination will not be accepted. Puppies need to have completed all their vaccinations and can board from 16 weeks of age.
WHAT TO BRING
1. Vaccination certificate 2. Contact phone number - either where you are or a brother, sister, neighbour 3. Nothing good - it might get chewed, ripped or ruined. It probably won't, but if it is essential to have it back, don't bring it. 4. Coats for dogs in the cooler months (if your dog doesn't have one, we will provide one free of charge.)
TOP WHEN TO BRING We open at 8 am and we need your pets in by 12 noon.
When they arrive in the morning they have plenty of time to settle in, see who is next door and get to know the person caring for them. Then later in the afternoon, eat their dinner and settle in for the night. With this routine we have very few problems with fretting.
TOP WHAT DOES SPOT DO?
Most dogs have great times at kennels. Some gun dogs get fretful, working dogs (e.g. Kelpie /Border Collie) get very excited. Lots of exercise and a mate usually fixes this nicely.
Each day from 7.30 am the exercise program begins. We have football field sized grassy exercise paddocks that your dog can run, play or just potter around in. If 'Spot' is sociable, he can pick a mate to play with. This provides company, stops boredom and loneliness. During busy times he should be out for several hours and during quiet times, nearly all day. We aim to exercise them as much as possible. If 'Spot' wants individual walks, we can arrange that too. The kennel is secure and spacious, about 15m in length and 3m wide. In addition it has a sheltered sleeping room to keep him warm and dry with a trampoline bed and foam insert. The front section of the kennel gets plenty of air and sunshine and is covered by a roof.
TOP WHAT DOES SPOT EAT?
Quite simply we feed your pet the same diet as what we feed our champion racing greyhounds . It's easy on the system and excellent for their coat. Best of all, we haven't had a knock back yet. If your vet has prescribed a special diet, bring it with you.
TOP ANYTHING WE SHOULD KNOW?
Medical problems, allergies, likes, dislikes, recent tick attack/old injuries, storms, black dogs etc. Sometimes we have called only to find out "Spot" limps because of an old injury.
TOP YOU'RE WORRIED?
The first time to kennel or cattery is a lot like dropping your child to kindy for the first time. Don't feel guilty. We are here so you can get away. If you want a progress report, please feel free to phone.
TOP WHEN TO PICK UP You can let us know at drop off but we understand circumstances change so a call prior will be sufficient to have your beloved pet ready to go home
YOU'RE BACK EARLY?
Within office hours is not a problem. If the dog was going to be washed let us know by phone and we will try to do it straight away; the day before would be handy but even a call from the airport and we'll do our best.
TOP YOU'RE DELAYED?
We are not going to put your favourite out on the street but a phone call would be nice.
TOP IF THEY ARE ILL.
If in any doubt we will call the vet. (That's why we ask you to tell us about any pre-existing conditions). We use the services of Quakers hill vet surgery as we find them to be the best in all pet care
TOP PILLS AND POTIONS.
Most dogs are on heart worm tablets. If your dog is on daily tabs, supply us with the tablets and a scedule supplied by your vet. Should the monthly heart worm fall due while staying here we will arrange this for you for free.
Other pills and potions can be administered. Make sure you bring them with the pet's name and dosage clearly marked.
If your pet is sick, please ask your vet to look after it, we do not board sick animals.
TOP BITCHES IN SEASON.
Please let us know prior if you have a bitch in season. We accept them but we need to keep her away from the lads.
TOP TRANSPORT.
We can arrange pick up and delivery for "Spot" at an extra charge. We need notice to organise this for you. We also have carriers who specialize in interstate and overseas travel.
TOP EXERCISE.
The reason most people bring their dogs to Bavarian Lodge is because of our famous MASSIVE exercise areas.(Click here to see a photo of our exercise yards). There is no addional charge for exercising, we do it cos we love dogs full stop.
TOP EXTRAS. BATH AND FLEA RINSE
After a time of playing in the exercise yard "Spot" can get pretty grubby. If you ask for him to be given a bath, we normally do this the day before he goes home so that he will be nice and clean for you. Long term boarders will be bathed regularly during their stay. If your pet has any special requirements, then let us know e.g. medicated shampoo or no flea rinse, etc.
DOGS WALKED
If you prefer to have your dog walked we will happily do so as we have 1km round walking track as well as our bush / creek adventure walk coming soon.
TRAINING
Individual training by a fully qualified expert can be arranged while your dog is in residence.Sorry but no guard dog or attack dog training. We prefer that you do the last lesson with the trainer so that you get the most out of it.
GROOMING
We have a special groomer that comes to pick up the dog and returns him in the afternoon. We will put you in touch with the groomer and you can let him know how you want your dog to look. Notice is required.
TOP PAYMENT.
Cash or bank cheque on arrival . Sorry, no credit cards or personal cheques thankyou.
